An upgraded native iOS and Android app version of a previously released web experience, we designed the Univision Fantasy app to improve on previous learnings. We simplified the ability to build your team by adding and removing players, as well as researching by position, form or price. Competitive benchmarking and user personas helped inform the overall direction.
The Challenge
The Univision Fantasy web experience already had a sizeable audience after a pre-season LigaMX release. There were continuous feedback loops and user testing sessions that exposed some of the weaknesses, including a UI and error messaging system that was not easily comprehensible. We took that as a starting point and, in a very limited time (before mid-season), built out better functionality leveraging native app and platform conventions derived from user personas.
The Result
The Fantasy App surpassed all expectations set by the original web experience in quality and usage. The product install base and reviews were highly favorable. A passionate fanbase competed for prizes and notoriety.
